Lavochkin La-7 -

I beg your pardon for possible dublicates - I don't understood - is the comment was send or not - it is rather hard to me read the Japan text

Nooo! ;-) You AMT-7 is VERY "cyan" that need

Please check http://scalemodels.ru/wiki/амт about reference of the VVS color for models (page on Russian only but you could use Google translate)

Noy bad variant is a Tamiya mix XF-23(85%)+ X-2(10%)+ X-4(5%) - I use it on my I-16 http://scalemodels.ru/modules/myarticles/article_storyid_355.html

I don't mix it form Gunze but hoping it could be H-117(85%)+ H1(10%)+ H-5(5%) - check the relations between Tamiya & Gunze

As for AMT11/12 camo color - much better to mix a ready AMT-7 (some lines higher) with black (АМТ-6) color

АМТ-11 = АМТ-7(70%) + АМТ-6(30%)
АМТ-12 = АМТ-7(50%) + АМТ-6(50%)

Feel free to contact me to any information you need

Best wishes from Russia!

Hi, Michael_XIII.

Thanks for your detailed advice.
Well, I was wondering if I could use RLM76 as the base color actually,
because I've read some about AMT-7 and heard that the color is brighter
than "mediterranean blue".

Regarding AMT11/12, I also didn't know the exact tones and never thought
adding AMT-6 to AMT-7. It's a great help. I'm going to retry the mixture.

I really feel that the best way is asking to the expert from Russia.
Really appreciate it!

Thanks & bye for now!

Not a problem - glad to help

Note a scans of a main source about VVS painting - the Vakhlamov's & Orlov's publication (on Russian only - unfortunatly for you :-( )

http://scalemodels.ru/modules/forum/viewtopic_t_954.html

Your AMT-7 is nice looking but in 11/12 are small lighter and bluesh that need

The receipt of AMT-7+AMT-6 mix got from this publication - it was a  "quick field mix" for repainting aircrafts at fields - for replacing original color

Also a photo of painting chip of original "Painting chips album" printed in 1948

http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aV8VNFJ
http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aVe48e0

It was could be some difference on photo color shifting but could you gave an averall look on colors

And also note on AKAN paint chip (only manufactures, which have a REAL color of VVS without mixing) - theirs was made based on that book

http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=Pqx2ypS
http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aV8Y7Q9

Thinking it should be some help to your

Good luck!

Thanks for the nice references.
I've thought that those colors were much lighter.
I can feel the real tones of AMT-7,11&12 from those color chips,
especially this one, though I've already finished the painting.

Regarding the "quick field mix", it makes a lot of sense
when you think about replacing the original colors in the front lines.

So, my small La-7 is nearly completed.
I think that I'll be able to show it to you soon.

Good luck!
